Wiki/Build a Batter

Build a Batter: every slot and weight, the over-99 power scale, what wins MVPs and Gold Gloves, the Hall of Fame math, and the best hitters posted

Eight slots, real hitter ratings that are allowed past 99, and a career sim tuned so a maxed power build lands around 670 home runs. Here is how it decides.

Updated 2026-08-25Source: game codeOfficial

The short version

  • Contact and Power weigh 1.2; Discipline, Vision and Clutch 1.1; Speed, Defense and Frame 1.0. Frame is a gentle height curve (76 to 93) and never decides a build.
  • Contact and Power are not capped at 99: Aaron Judge's card runs 108 Contact and 114 Power, and the sim keeps half of the over-99 headroom as extra home-run ceiling.
  • Career length and plate appearances come from Frame. Gold Gloves come from the Defense slot with a Speed assist.
  • 3 MVPs, 64 career WAR, 500 homers with 46 WAR, or 3,000 hits with 50 WAR is an automatic Hall of Fame.
  • The all-time #1 is a 118 OVR. This is also the only game with the 2% ✨ Shiny Spin jackpot (a guaranteed Legend) and an alternate Draft Mode.

The eight slots

SlotBody partWeightDrives
ContactHands1.2Average, hits
PowerBat1.2Home runs, slugging
DisciplineHead1.1Walks, on-base
VisionEyes1.1Strikeouts avoided, average
ClutchHelmet1.1Rings, big moments
SpeedFeet1.0Steals, some defense
DefenseThigh1.0Gold Gloves, defensive runs
FrameBody1.0Plate appearances, career length

Frame is height on a deliberately mild curve: 82 + 1.5 per inch above 6'0", clamped between 76 and 93. A short hitter is nudged, never crushed. Where Frame matters is the sim: max age is about 30 + 0.13 × Frame (29 to 42), and plate appearances per season scale with it too.

Ratings past 99

Contact and Power are left-right averages that are not clamped, so the best cards read 108 and 114. Those values count fully toward OVR and age more slowly in the sim. Home runs get half of the over-99 headroom as extra seasonal ceiling: a maxed all-114-power build averages about 670 career homers with best seasons near 50, roughly 10% above the classic 614 by design.

What lands

  • 4% Legend, 5% Prime, 10% 🔥 Last Night's Stud in free play (a real hitter who went off the night before, boosted), otherwise a live card weighted toward gold and diamond. About 1,200 hitters and 134 legends in the pool.
  • ✨ Shiny Spin: 2% in free play, guarantees a Legend lands. Unique to this game.
  • Lucky daily: one day in seven the daily's first card is a guaranteed Diamond.
  • Power-ups: Re-spin, Boost (to the real Prime card, or a synthesized +6 Prime for MVP, Silver Slugger and Hank Aaron Award winners who never got one; Boost never lowers a stat), Snag.
  • 🃏 Draft Mode: instead of a reel, a hand of eight cards per slot to choose from, with Re-deal, Boost and 🎯 New Attribute (re-roll which slot the hand is for).

What the career sim rewards

AwardThreshold
MVPA roll, up to 34% a season, driven by WAR above 5, OPS above .840 and homers above 30
All-Star3.7 WAR or an .840 OPS
Batting title450+ at-bats and a .305 average, then a roll
Home run title34+ homers, then a roll
Silver Slugger.830 OPS, then a roll
Gold Glove82+ Defense, then a roll, nudged by Speed
RingsClutch, WAR and team quality

The sim starts at 22. One injury per career at most. Decision events are the same ten as the other baseball game, with batting-flavored copy (you faceplant sliding into second instead of tripping over the rosin bag).

The Hall of Fame

Automatic: 64+ career WAR, or 3+ MVPs, or 500 homers with 46 WAR, or 3,000 hits with 50 WAR.

Otherwise: 0.82 × WAR, plus up to 18 for hits past 2,000, up to 18 for homers past 250, 8 for a .300 career average (4 for .285), and hardware: MVP 14, ring 2.5, batting title 1.6, Silver Slugger 1.4, home run title 1.4, All-Star 0.8, Gold Glove 0.8. 112 is the line. Rules of thumb from tuning: 90 OVR is essentially a lock, 85 about 72%, 80 about 23%, 77 and under never.

Verdicts: 🐐 G.O.A.T. (Hall of Fame with a 99+ build), 🏆 Hall of Fame, 🧮 Hall of Compilers (missed the Hall but hit two milestone clubs with 500 homers or 3,000 hits), Hall of Pretty Good (80 to 85 effective OVR, where milestone clubs add up to 9 points), Hall of Mid, Hall of Not Good. Milestone clubs: 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 / 700 / 763 homers, 2,000 / 2,500 / 3,000 hits, 1,200 / 1,500 RBI.

Best builds from the leaderboard

The highest-rated hitters ever posted, pulled 2026-08-25 from 179,170 builds. Legends fill 44% of top-40 slots; Primes 13%. Contact and Power are where the legends go; Speed and Defense are where the modern speedsters (Crow-Armstrong, Bolte) go.

Tips

  • Contact and Power first, and they can exceed 99. A 114-power Judge card in Power is worth more than any 99 anywhere else.
  • Frame is where the tall guy goes, but it will not make or break you. Use it for a mediocre card that happens to be 6'7" (Oneil Cruz, Richie Sexson, Judge).
  • Defense is the Gold Glove slot, Speed is the steals slot. Do not swap them: Gold Gloves gate on 82 Defense specifically.
  • Boost a live slugger. Synthesized Primes mean every MVP-caliber current player has one, even if no special card exists.
  • If you keep landing in the Hall of Compilers, the build scores but never wins. Clutch and the Free Agency choice fix that, not more Power.

Sorted by OVR; also Home Runs, Hits, WAR, Rings and MVPs, with Barry Bonds' 762 shown as a purple reference row on the homer sort. The daily alternates with Build a Pitcher: batter one day, pitcher the next.

Questions people ask

What are the slot weights in Build a Batter?

Contact and Power 1.2; Discipline, Vision and Clutch 1.1; Speed, Defense and Frame 1.0.

Why does a card show 114 Power?

Contact and Power are not capped at 99. The best real cards run past it, the value counts fully toward OVR, and the sim keeps half the over-99 headroom as extra home-run ceiling.

How do you win a Gold Glove in Build a Batter?

The Defense slot has to be 82 or better; Speed adds a small nudge. Speed alone does not win it.

What is Shiny Spin?

A 2% roll in free play that guarantees the reel lands on a Legend. It only exists in Build a Batter and never in the daily challenge.

What makes the Hall of Fame automatic for a hitter?

64 career WAR, 3 MVPs, 500 home runs with 46 WAR, or 3,000 hits with 50 WAR.
