Import to 2K: turn your Build a Baller hooper into an NBA 2K MyPLAYER build

You built the player. Import to 2K hands you the numbers to rebuild him in MyCAREER, attribute by attribute, using the real 2K ratings of the players in each slot.

Updated 2026-08-25Source: game codeOfficial

The short version

  • The button appears after a finished career sim. It opens a blueprint with your build name, position, height, OVR and 22 NBA 2K attributes.
  • Each attribute is the real 2K rating of the player you put in that slot, translated back to 2K's 0-99 scale.
  • Height is clamped to 2K's builder range (5'9" to 7'3"), position is inferred from height and playmaking.
  • Follow-Along Mode shows one attribute at a time; on desktop a QR code opens that walkthrough on your phone with no account needed.
  • 2K caps attributes by height and position, so get as close as the builder lets you.

Step by step

  1. Finish a build and run Simulate Career. The Import to 2K button appears under the career card (it is hidden until a career exists).
  2. Tap it. A short transfer animation absorbs your nine slot headshots into a 2K badge (tap to skip; it is instant if your device has reduced motion on).
  3. Read the blueprint: build name, position, height and weight, OVR, and 22 attributes grouped as Finishing, Shooting, Playmaking, Defense/Rebounding and Physicals.
  4. Open NBA 2K → MyCAREER → new MyPLAYER build. Set the position and height first (they decide the attribute caps), then dial each attribute toward the blueprint number.
  5. Prefer one number at a time? Tap ▶ for Follow-Along Mode: 25 steps, one attribute per screen, tap to advance.
  6. On a desktop, scan the 📱 On your phone QR code. It opens the walkthrough on your phone directly, with the numbers encoded in the link, so it works even with no internet on the console side and no sign-in.

How the numbers are produced

Un-curving the slot values

Build a Baller stretches ratings above 72 (each point above 72 counts 1.55) so elite players separate on the reel. Import to 2K reverses that so a 116 in 3-Pointer goes back to a 2K-scale 99-ish. Nothing you see on the blueprint is above 99.

The 22 attributes

For each of your nine slots the game looks up the actual NBA 2K attribute sheet of that player and pulls the relevant real attributes: the Finishing slot supplies the finishing attributes (close shot, driving layup, dunks and so on), the 3-Pointer slot supplies the shooting attributes, Defense supplies perimeter and interior defense, steal and block, Rebounding supplies offensive and defensive rebound, Speed supplies the physicals. If a player has no sheet on file, the closest covered player by composite is borrowed. If the sheet cannot load at all, a formula derives the numbers from the slot values instead.

Elite-career nudges

Careers of at least 82 games earn small bumps: +2 to scoring attributes if the career averaged 28+ PPG, +2 to rebounding if 12+ RPG, +2 to passing if 10+ APG.

Build name

The two strongest of six categories (Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defense, Rebounding, Athleticism) pick the name from a table of fifteen: "3-Level Scorer", "Two-Way Lockdown", "Point Forward" and so on. If your categories are within 8 points of each other the build is an All-Around Phenom; if no pairing matches it falls back to Two-Way Threat.

Position and height

Your Frame value converts back to inches and is clamped to 2K's builder range, 5'9" to 7'3". Position is inferred from height (PG through C) and nudged toward a playmaking position if Playmaking is one of your top two categories. A Yao-sized Frame with a Kyrie Dribble slot will come out as a 7'3" center with guard handles; 2K will cap the handle, which is the point of the "as close as it lets you" note.

Tips for a faithful recreation

  • Set height and position before touching attributes. Every cap in 2K's builder depends on them.
  • If an attribute is capped below the blueprint, spend the leftover points on the next attribute in the same group; the blueprint's group totals matter more than any single number.
  • Use Follow-Along Mode on a second screen. It exists so you never have to alt-tab.
  • The QR link contains the whole blueprint, so you can save or share it; nothing about it needs a GoatLab account.

The blueprint uses public NBA 2K ratings as reference values. GoatLab is not affiliated with the NBA or 2K, and 2K's attribute caps vary by height and position.

Questions people ask

Can you import a GoatLab build into NBA 2K?

Yes. After a career sim, Build a Baller's Import to 2K button produces a MyPLAYER blueprint (position, height, 22 attributes) you recreate by hand in MyCAREER. There is no file transfer; 2K does not allow one.

Where do the 2K attribute numbers come from?

From the real NBA 2K attribute sheets of the players you put in each slot, un-curved back to 2K's 0-99 scale, with small bumps for elite careers.

What is Follow-Along Mode?

A one-attribute-at-a-time walkthrough of the blueprint, 25 steps, designed to sit next to the 2K builder. On desktop a QR code opens it on your phone.

Why can't I match every number in 2K?

2K caps attributes by height and position. The blueprint is the target; get each attribute as close as the builder allows and spend leftover points within the same group.
